SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Tag champions from WWE and New Japan met at a competition in front of thousands of fans on Saturday night. But, the competition was video games, not pro wrestling.

WWE tag champion Xavier Woods and New Japan’s NEVER Openweight six-man tag champion Kenny Omega met for video game supremacy at the “CEO 2016” convention Saturday night in Orlando.

The battle has been brewing throughout the year. Omega, along with the Young Bucks, named themselves The Elite faction within the Bullet Club and threw out a challenge to the New Day trio.

The Elite even created mock t-shirts inspired by New Day’s unicorn theme.

Xavier acknowledged the group Monday night on Raw when he named New Day the “elite” tag team in pro wrestling, a dog-whistle to the audience aware of Omega and The Bucks calling out New Day this year.

Xavier and Omega then met at the CEO gaming convention to settle things video game-style. (Full Report at EventHubs.com)

Meanwhile, the closest thing to New Day and The Elite meeting in a wrestling ring has been New Day’s recent feud with The Club members A.J. Styles, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows, who were part of the Bullet Club until leaving for WWE this year.
