[HOUR ONE]
-They opened with a shot of Excalibur, Taz, and Ian Riccaboni standing at ringside. Excalibur hyped the line-up. Then he commented on a clip of the post-match attack on Will Ospreay by the Death Riders at Forbidden Door.
-FTR and Stokely Hathaway made their way to the ring. Cash, as has happened lately, got into it with a fan in the aisle. The argument got intense and pretty heated. The camera cut away as Cash didn’t appear to be doing anything to diffuse it. Cash made way to the ring, but still had his eye on the fan and blew a kiss to him when he stood on the ring apron. (At least he did blow snot toward the fans as he did several weeks back.) Fans in that area where the argument took place were still buzzing and laughing. (Bubba Ray would be proud.)
Dax checked on the mic working over and over and asked if they could hear him. Fans booed. He said unfortunately on Sunday, there was a miscarriage of justice. He said the illegal man pinned him on Sunday. He turned to referee Paul Turner. He gave Turner a hard time for failing at his job. When Dax asked him to reverse his decision, Turner said his decision is final. Stokely called Turner “a moron,” “an imbecile,” and “a complete nincompoop.” (I’m not sure I’ve ever typed that word before.) He said he wants to appease the degenerates. As FTR and Stokely got in Turner’s face, Adam Copeland’s entrance theme played and he came out. Meanwhile, Christian snuck in and gave Stokely an Unprettier.
Copeland joined in the fight. A swarm of security ran out and tried to separate them. Fans chanted, “Holy shit!” When the heels gathered at ringside, Christian said since Copeland helped him take care of his problem on Sunday, he’d help take care of Copeland’s problem now.
Christian told Dax that he understands he has a father and Cash has a father as well. Copeland yanked the mic from him and said, “No, no.” When fans protested Copeland interrupting, he said, “You’re all a bunch of sickos, fine.” Christian took the mic back and said, “And that bitch is dead.” Cash had to be restrained by security. Copeland said it’s set in stone that they’d face off in Toronto, his hometown, for the first time. “You’re dead men, dead men!” Copeland said.
-A vignette aired with Darby Allin. He tore off a bandage on his ear. He said for those who hoped he’d die on Mt. Everest, he’s sorry he disappointed them. Special effects showed blood splatters and puddles on screen. He said when he was on the mountain, he saw the bodies and he cried. He said he realized how fragile life is. He said he felt so alive on that mountain. He said Jon Moxley is trying to take precious moments away from people and for that he’ll never stop coming after him. He told him not to step foot in the ring with him unless he’s willing to die for it. He said he’ll take everything from him at All Out.
(1) JON MOXLEY (w/Wheeler Yuta, Marina Shafir) vs. DANNY GARCIA
Garcia enthusiastically slapped hands with the fan that Cash got into a yelling match with. The bell rang 16 minutes into the hour. Excalibur noted that to cash in the open contracts won in the Casino Battle Royal, you need to give seven days notice to him (thus breaking from the MITB instant cash-in format). Garcia took it to Mox at ringside, shoving him into a chair against the barricade and landing two running kicks. A distraction at ringside by Yuta and Shafir led to Mox kicking Garcia. “Daddy Magic” Matt Menard came out to protest. He warned them to back away. Fans chanted, “Daddy Magic!”
Back in the ring, Garcia took Mox down and went for a leglock. Mox scurried to the ropes and then dropped to the floor and grabbed his ankle. They cut to a double-box break. [c/db]
Mox took over at ringside during the break. Back from the break, Mox raked his fingernails across Garcia’s back. Garcia countered by biting Moxley’s thigh and then landing a top rope superplex. Garcia rallied and landed a clothesline and scored a two count. Mox went for a DDT, but Garcia grabbed the ropes to block it and then applied a half Boston crab. Mox reached the bottom rope to force a break.
Mox DDT’d Garcia on the ringside steps a minute later. The ref began counting him out. Menard cheered him on and a fan helped him up, and he dove into the ring to beat the count at nine. Mox went for a stomp, but Garcia moved and rolled up Mox for a two count. Garcia applied a Dragon Tamer mid-ring. Mox shifted into a Bulldog, but Garcia countered in a piledriver for a two count. Fun sequence. Mox then leveraged Garcia’s shoulders down with an inside cradle for the win. Excalibur said Garcia can hold his head high despite losing.
WINNER: Moxley in 14:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: A really nice opener. It’s cool to see how adept at Mox is with a match that doesn’t involve blood and weapons. Garcia is tremendous at doing the fundamentals even if his style sometimes flies under the radar of some.)
-Yuta said Moxley is not going to waste his breath answering his challenge. “The answer is no,” he said. He shoved the mic down and smiled. Garcia and Mox were exchanging words at ringside. Menard had Garcia’s back. Yuta then chuckled at Garcia arrogantly before following Moxley and Shafir through the crowd. [c]
-Yuta had a mic in hand and returned to the ring. He was pelted with boos. “Look, I’ve got a lot left to say and this show will not continue until I’ve said my piece.” He said he lives in the city and he used to do “ring crew” in that building as a teenager. “I broke bones in this building and this is what it got me, right?” Fans chanted “Shut the f— up!” He said it used to bother him how little they respect him and then he realized he’s a Death Rider “and your cheers mean jack shit.” He said Will Ospreay left Forbidden Door on a stretcher and Chuck Taylor has a broken neck and Bryan Danielson is out. “I slayed the Dragon and replaced him,” he said. The lights went dark. “What the hell is this?” he asked.
Hook’s “H” showed up in a spotlight against the wall and then he walked out to chill lounge music, “So Tell The Girls That I’m Back in Town” by Jay-Jay Johanson. Hook leaped into the ring. Yuta charged. Hook side-stepped him and knocked him out of the ring. Excalibur said the Death Riders put Hook out of action for three months “and he’s coming back hot.” Some fans chanted “Hook! Hook! Hook!”
-Excalibur threw to an interview with MJF after the PPV on Sunday. He asked if they want him to be cocky after what happened. He said he was bleeding buckets and they chanted, “You deserve it!” He said Mark Briscoe cost him the match and the title. He pounded the metal clipboard and said he is the best on the mic and in the ring. He said he should have burned Briscoe alive “and I am going to.” He said then Tony Khan informed him he can’t execute the Casino Gauntlet contract anytime he wants. He said when he signs it, it won’t be for a match, it’ll be for his soul.” He said Hangman will know when he finishes with Briscoe and is coming for him.
(2) PENELOPE FORD & MEGAN BAYNE vs. KRIS STATLANDER & HARLEY CAMERON
The bell rang 43 minutes into the hour. Statlander took it to Ford first. Then Bayne tagged in. Cameron tagged herself in then. They cut to a break at 3:00. [c/db]
Cameron hot-tagged in Statlander who rallied against Ford and scored a two count. Ford and Bayne went for a top rope moves, but Statlander and Cameron moved. Then they hit a double-team move on Bayne for a near fall, broken up by Ford. Ford gave Statlander a Crucifix Bomb. Cameron countered a Ford lariat into a neckreaker. Bayne then caught Cameron with a dropkick. Statlander gave Bayne a discus lariat. All four women were down. Statlander stood and hit a barrage of strikes at Bayne.
Ford snapped Statlander’s neck over the top rope. Ford leaped off the top rope onto Statlander, but Statlander rolled through. She drove Ford into the mat as a counter to a poison rana. She then applied a leg wrap on Ford’s head for a tapout.
WINNERS: Statlander & Cameron in 10:00.
-Willow Nightingale entered the ring afterward. Excalibur said they have a complicated relationship. Harley tried to play peacemaker. Fans chanted, “Hug it out!” The three women posed together happily in the ring. [c]
-Renee Paquette stood mid-ring at a table decorated with Mercedes Moné’s nine belts. She introduced “Nine Belts Moné.” Mercedes made her entrance.
[HOUR TWO]
Renee asked her about her successful week in the U.K. including winning the Six-Woman Tag Team Titles at RevPro and her successful title defense at Forbidden Door. She said Ultimo Dragon once had ten titles. She said she will smash that record. She said if any woman has a title, she’s coming for her “and you’re going to love the taste of Moné.”
Renee said Alex Windsor nearly tapped her out. Mercedes asked if Renee is “stupid or dumb.” She said she wasn’t legal in the ring and was just swatting away a bug anyway. She said Windsor is jealous of her for dancing all over her man. She said she doesn’t care about her, but if she wants to ride the Moné Train again, she’ll send her to the hospital next to her husband, Will Ospreay. She danced to her music to end the segment.
-A promo aired with Mark Briscoe. He said 2300 Arena is where it all started for the Briscoes and he wished he could be there, but he had a good reason. He then showed off his new baby and handed it back to someone off camera. “Take this and go,” he said. He then addressed MJF threatening to set him on fire on national TV. He said that’s why he made sure he didn’t pick up a fluke win against Hangman on Sunday. He said he has said he can’t win the big one. He shifted to talking about Kyle Fletcher. He said they’re 2-2 against each other. He challenged him to a TNT Title match in Philly. He asked if he’ll man up.
-Justin Roberts stood mid-ring and began to introduce an eight-man all-star tag team match. Don Callis interrupted and walked out with Wardlow. He spoke in Spanish as he introduced Hechicero. Then he introduced Josh Alexander and Konosuke Takeshita. And finally Kazuchika Okada came out, and Callis let Justin Roberts introduce him.
(3) KAZUCHIKA OKADA & HECHICERO & KONOSUKE TAKESHITA & JOSH ALEXANDER vs. BANDIDO & BRODY KING & JET SPEED (“Speedball” Mike Bailey & Kevin Knight)
The bell rang 10 minutes into the hour. Excalibur plugged Hechicero vs. Bandido for the ROH World Title on the ROH Death Before Dishonor event in two days. After some dives to ringside at 3:00, they cut to a double-box break. [c/db]
Back from the break, there was some chaos with the heels taking control. There was a small issue with Takeshita pulled Bailey out of Okada’s path to do his own move. Okada then got in Takeshita’s face and then shoved him. Brody yanked Takeshita out of the ring. Brody and Bandido attacked Okada. Bandido knocked Hechicero over the top rope. Takeshita then landed a running flip dive over the top rope.
Back in the ring, Bailey ducked a Rainmaker and then Knight springboard clotheslined Okada. Bailey took Alexander off the top rope with a huracanrana as fans chanted “This is awesome!” Bailey then went for a shooting star press, but Alexander moved and scored a three count with a small package.
WINNERS: Callis Family in 11:00. [c]
-“Hangman” Adam Page made his entrance. He solemnly thanked Ospreay for all he’s done for AEW. He said he genuinely is sorry for how things have turned out for him since All In. He said while he’s gone, they will all miss him. He said he hopes when the time is right for him, he can come back and challenge him for his World Title. He shifted to addressing MJF. He said he had a shot at the title and he failed. He said he threw every trick he could think of at him and he still failed. He said after everything he’d done, he now has to give a seven day notice before he challenges him again. He said that doesn’t matter to him. He said he’ll beat his ass before the ink is dry if he does choose to cash in against him. Callis’s entrance “music” then interrupted.
Callis walked out, mic in hand. He said he had something important to say to the champ. He said they have a long history. Fans chanted “Shut the f— up!” He said Hangman won his first World Title from him because he had a “weakling” wrestling for him. He said he wants the title back in the Don Callis Family. He said Hangman doesn’t get to decide who he wrestles. He said there’s a whole locker room back there who wants that title. He said he knows that because he has half the locker room under contract. He said it’s not a question of if the Don Callis Family is going to get the belt, but rather just which of his members is going to take it from him.
Callis’s wrestlers surrounded the ring. Hangman said he is no dumb-ass and he can see. how this is going to go. He then flung himself onto Alexander at ringside. He was instantly swarmed, though. Knight and Bailey ran into the ring to help. Callis handed the steel baton to Rocky Romero who hit Hangman with them. Kenny Omega then walked out. “I didn’t know Kenny was here,” said Taz. Omega knocked down a charging Hechicero and then entered the ring and began delivering snap dragon suplexes. Omega and Hangman delivered a combo move on Lance Archer. Then they hugged as fans chanted, “Holy shit!” The four babyfaces stood together in the ring as Hangman’s music played.
-A promo aired Mina Shirakawa and Toni Storm in a parking lot. Storm said that on Friday, at ROH Death Before Dishonor, she’ll leave Athena just as she did. She said she is back from her broken hand injury. A soundbite aired with Athena saying she is going to beat Mina on Friday at 2300 Arena. She said she’ll beat her ass so bad, the Sandman will “[bleep] his pants.”
(4) THE OPPS (Samoa Joe & Powerhouse Hobbs & Shibata) vs. RICOCHET & GATES OF AGONY (Bishop Kaun & Tao Leoa)
The bell rang 36 minutes into the hour. They cut to a double-box break at 3:00. [c/db]
MVP ended up hitting Ricochet with his cane from behind. Joe then put Ricochet in his sleeper. Excalibur said MVP was getting payback on Ricochet for their involvement in the tag title match at Forbidden Door.
WINNERS: The Opps in 11:00.
-After the match, the Opps left and then GOA helped a groggy Ricochet to his feet. Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin came out and brawled in the aisle to the back with GOA. [c]
(5) CLAUDIO CASTANOLI vs. DARBY ALLIN – Falls Count Anywhere
The camera showed Claudio making his entrance starting backstage as Roberts introduced him. Darby blindsided him with a dive to start the match 52 minutes into the hour. They brawled backstage. Claudio wrecked the viewing area set up backstage. He slammed Darby onto the TV. Claudio dragged Darby into the arena and swung him into the guard rail in the aisle leading to a two count.
Darby made a comeback with a leaping dropkick. He ascended a pillar and then delivered a Coffin Drop style dive at Claudio for a two count. Fans chanted “Holy shit!” Claudio made a comeback and then pressed Darby over his head and tossed him crashing onto the announce desk at ringside. They cut to a double-box break. [c/db]
[OVERRUN]
Fans were loudly chanting “Darby Allin!” when they returned from the break. Claudio leaned a table in the corner. Darby begged off on his back on the mat, but then surprised Claudio with a front guillotine. Claudio stood and tried to vertical suplex Darby, but Darby slipped onto Claudio’s back and applied a sleeper. Claudio threw Darby to the mat, but Darby threw Claudio through the table as a counter to Claudio’s European uppercut. Darby smashed Claudio across his back with a chair several times.
When Darby climbed to the top rope, Claudio knocked him off balance and smashed him with a chair. Claudio gut-wrench suplexed Darby off the top rope onto chairs for a two count. Claudio tossed Darby into a table leaning in the corner. It didn’t break. Claudio powerbombed him next and that did break the table. He scored a two count on Darby.
Claudio removed the turnbuckle pad. Excalibur hyped Hangman & Omega & Jet Speed against Fletcher & Alexander & The Young Bucks next week on Dynamite. Darby countered a catapult by Claudio with a double-stomp. Darby raked Claudio’s eyes and rolled him up for a two count at 14:00. He landed a Code Red and then two quick Coffin Drops for a three count.
WINNER: Darby in 15:00.
(Keller’s Analysis: A wild, satisfying main event.)
-Gabe Kidd attacked Darby right after the match. Mox joined in the beatdown. Darby took him down with a double-leg. He shoved Kidd into Mox next and then fled the ring. Kidd followed him through the crowd. Darby’s music played as Kidd threw a fit backstage.
