[HOUR ONE]

-Michael Cole introduced the show as they showed scenes of London and then cheering fans. A brief video package narrated by Wade Barrett regarding the King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournament aired. Then they showed the arrivals or backstage footage of the Usos, Iyo Sky, Paige & Brie Bella, and The Street Profits. Then they cut to the arena where Cole touted 13,041 fans were packing the arena.

-Oba Femi’s ring entrance took place. They projected a giant shadow outline of him on the crowd and then did a split-screen of fans chanting for him as he strutted to the ring in street clothes. He said he is backed by destiny “and she has been very kind to me.” He said destiny allowed him to slay The Beast and get this far in the tournament. He said destiny is still on his side, so this weekend at Night of Champions, he’ll become the new King of the Ring. He asked should he go after the WWE Championship or the World Heavyweight Championship if he wins. He was interrupted by Jey Uso’s music.

Jey confronted Oba for looking past him. He said people have counted him out time after time including now “because they don’t think I can beat you.” He said he’s going to “silence the haters.” (So you “hate” him if you simply think Oba is going to beat him?) He said he will win and become Undisputed WWE Champion.

Oba told Jey, “If you do shoot, don’t miss, because if you do, I will destroy you, and if you don’t, I will still destroy you.” Fans cheered. He said at the end of the day, he’s not the family member he is ultimately concerned about. He told him to tell his cousin he’s coming for him.

-They went Cole and Corey Graves at ringside. They narrated a clip of what Jacob Fatu did to Eric Andre last week. Graves said he made “the catastrophic error” of putting his hands on the sacred ula fala. Graves said Reigns is “finally realizing the power he has in his hands with Jacob Fatu.”

(Keller’s Analysis: It’s crazy how neutral WWE’s announcers are that a celebrity in the front row was yanked over the barricade and thrown into the ring and beat up by a pro wrestler. They just act like it was justified or understandable. It was a criminal act and the edge of everything that happens in WWE dulls when angles like this aren’t framed to scale afterward.)

-LA Knight confronted GM Adam Pearce when he was walking and talking on his phone. Knight asked if it was Roman Reigns or Jacob Fatu. He asked if The Bloodline had compromising photos of him. Knight said he let them get away with attacking Andre. Pearce said he was “fined for it.” (At least they said he was fined, but that feels like below minimum sentencing.) As Knight complained, Jimmy Uso asked what’s going on with him, hitting him in the back with a chair. Knight called it collateral damage. Pearce told them to calm down. Knight told Pearce to shut up. Pearce got red-faced and booked Knight vs. Jimmy. Jimmy loved it. Knight acted like it was his idea and said “Yeah!”

-Brie & Paige made their ring entrance. [c]

-A new Club WWE commercial aired with John Cena discussing benefits, again sounding like he was reading a story to kindergartners.

-Cole plugged Saturday’s Night of Champions PLE starting at 1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT.

-Jackie Redmond interviewed Lyra Valkyria and Bayley backstage. Lyra said they need this win and this is their time. Bayley said they’ve been the best tag team in the division so long and they’ll prove it tonight. She said Lyra got the match for them tonight. She said their trust and teamwork will make all the difference.

(1) BRIE BELLA & PAIGE vs. LYRA VALKYRIA & BAYLEY – WWE Women’s Tag Team Title match

Cole noted that Bayley and Lyra don’t have a winning record. Graves said Lyra seems tense and borderline nervous. The bell rang 25 minutes into the hour. Cole talked about Paige’s family being in the audience. Lyra went after after Paige as the bell rang. Bayley landed a Bayley-to-Belly on Paige, but Paige yanked Brie to the floor as Bayley went for the cover. They cut to a break after Bayley scored a two count second later. [c]

Back from the break, Brie was landing Yes kicks to Bayley. Graves said they were “world famous It Kicks made famous by The Miz.” Cole said he’s not sure that was accurate. Paige and Lyra each hot-tagged in at the same time. Paige rallied against both Lyra and Bayley. Lyra landed a Night Wing and made the cover on Paige. Brie hit Lyra from behind to break up the cover.

After some back and forth rapid-fire action, Paige landed Rampaige on Lyra for the clean win.

WINNERS: Paige & Brie in 8:00 to retain the Women’s Tag Team Titles.

-They stayed with Lyra and Bayley soaking up the loss after Brie & Paige returned to the back. Bayley assured Lyra they’re the best. She helped her up and hugged her. Cole said they need to dust themselves off and regroup. Lyra attacked Bayley. Cole said she snapped and attacked a woman who was a mentor to her. Officials entered the ring. Cole said Lyra ought to look in the mirror.

(Keller’s Analysis: Cole was a lot more upset about one wrestler beating up another here than he was about Fatu attacking a celebrity last week.) [c]

-Cole and Graves commented on Lyra’s attack on Bayley. Cole said the constant losing finally caused Lyra to lose it.

-Backstage, Redmond approached Lyra and asked what happened. Lyra stormed past her without comment.

-Chad Gable made his ring entrance. Gable high-fived a little kid with a “Welcome Back Gable” sign. He said he’s had one hell of a month, and it all started when he lost his mask in Mexico. He said losing the mask showed him he lost more the last couple years including his self-respect, his reputation, his dignity, and some friends. He said Rey Mysterio taught him it’s never too late to right some wrongs. He invited Otis, Akira Tozawa, and Maxxine Dupri to the ring.

Gable told Maxxine that she had potential from the start and always wanted to be the best she could be. He said she won a singles title, which he hasn’t accomplished himself. He said the way he treated her was pathetic and that was his fault. He told Tozawa, he has a heart of a lion and he tried to smother him and hold him back. He said the way he treated him was pathetic and embarrassing.

He told Otis he is the most loyal friend anyone on this planet could have. He said he would have taken a bullet for him. His voice cracked as he said they’ve been friends for over 20 years and he misses him. He said they trained at the Olympic training center together and he held his girls in his arms the day after they were born. He said he threw it all away because he wanted the Intercontinental Title more than he valued their friendship. He said the three of them don’t owe him a thing, but he owes them an apology. He looked them in the eye and said, “I’m sorry.”

Otus turned away from a handshake offer, then looked at Maxxine and Tozawa, and then contemplated the offer, and then was about to shake Gable’s hand when Maxxine stepped between them. She said she used to believe every word that came out of Gable’s mouth, but now she sees everything about him is a lie. She said they all want to believe him and give him a second chance, but she doesn’t. Fans booed.

She asked Gable about the things he asked of her and how he left them high and dry to drown alone as he chased his own dreams. She said everything has always been about Gable, and even this apology is about Gable. She said when she won her title, she realized they didn’t need him then and they don’t need him now. She shoved the mic in Gable’s chest and said they’re leaving him alone. Tozawa followed Maxxine out of the ring. Otis paused, then also left. He seemed conflicted. Fans chanted, “Gable!” Gable looked sad.

-Rey Mysterio told Dragon Lee to teach Ethan Page some respect for Lucha Libre. Penta walked in and gave Rey some words of encouragement in Spanish. [c]

-Cole got in some plugs.

(2) DRAGON LEE vs. ETHAN PAGE

Ethan was already in the ring after the break and his music faded. (That’s never a great sign for a wrestler’s push if management doesn’t think their ring entrance is going to hold the audience or is important enough to air even though it’s a huge part of establishing their persona.) Lee’s entrance aired. The bell rang 57 minutes into the hour. They cut to an early break.

[HOUR TWO]

[c] Ethan landed a kick for a near fall after countering Lee attempting Operation Dragon. Lee shoved Ethan off balance on the top rope. Ethan hung backwards. Lee landed a double stomp to his chest for a two count. Ethan intercepted a leaping Lee with a forearm to the head. They battled on the ring apron next. Lee sent Ethan into the announce desk and then landed a running flip dive through the ropes. Lee threw Ethan into the ring and then took Ethan down with a crossbody back elbow for a two count. Lee set up a Styles Clash, but Ethan used a low blow to break it up. Ethan then gave Lee the EgoPlex for the win.

WINNER: Ethan in 10:00.

-Cole plugged that season three of WWE Unreal focused on John Cena’s retirement tour would premiere on Netflix on July 21.

-A video package aired on The Vision and The Street Profits.

-Redmond interviewed Theory, Logan, and Bron Breakker backstage. Theory said they are building the future. Logan said if it was up to him, he’d yank off his arm brace and beat up the Profits with it, but none of that matters. He said he’s healing faster than any human being has ever healed. He said if he were a betting man, he’d have all his money on Theory and Breakker. Breakker said they’d handle business tonight and then he’d rip Seth Rollins’s head off in the cage at Night of Champions.

(Keller’s Analysis: The lack of mentions or even allusions to Paul Heyman is starting to seem conspicuous.) [c]

-Cole hyped Summerslam as they showed scenes of Minneapolis.

-A vignette aired on Lola Vice who talked about enjoying pushing herself past her comfort zone.

-They showed some celebrities at ringside including actor Jason Statham, boxers Derek Chisora, Lee Cutler, Alex MacMillan, and UFC fighter Michael Page.

-Redmond stood mid-ring and introduced Iyo Sky. Sky made her entrance and talked about beating Liv Morgan to become the Queen of the Ring. She jumped up and down excitedly. Liv’s music interrupted and she made her way to the ring. Liv walked out and said everyone knows she’s so much more talented than her. Sky heard enough and ranted at Liv. Liv went after Sky with “a cheap shot,” as Cole put it. Sky knocked Liv to the floor and celebrated as Liv sat stunned at ringside. Cole said their match will start Night of Champions on ESPN on Saturday.

-Jimmy told Jey to focus on King of the Ring and he’ll take care of LA Knight. Jacob Fatu showed up. Jey asked why he was at Smackdown talking to Solo Sikoa. Fatu said he doesn’t take orders or explain himself to them. Jey asked what the plan is. Fatu said if Solo crosses the line, he won’t like what he finds.

-Knight made his ring entrance. [c]

-Cole plugged fans can purchase their name to be put on the canvas at Summerslam.

-Backstage, JD McDonagh and Dominik Mysterio asked Danhausen where their money went. He said he spent their $100,000 on equipment and contraptions for his experiment. JD said they’re going to take his contraption if he doesn’t give them their money back. Danhausen cursed JD. JD touched the contraption and got zapped. Dom helped him up, but he seemed totally disoriented.

(3) LA KNIGHT vs. JIMMY USO

Knight’s entrance theme faded and then Jimmy made his entrance. Jimmy made his entrance down the aisle. Jimmy knocked Knight off the ring aron with an enzuigiri and then threw Knight into the barricade as they cut to an early break. [c]

As Knight set up a superplex, Solo arrived at ringside. That distracted Knight enough for Jimmy to knock him down. Solo stepped onto the ring apron and gave a Samoan Spike to Jimmy. Fans had no idea how to react. Knight looked up and tried to figure out what happened. Fans chanted “Fatu! Fatu!” Knight gave Jimmy the BFT for the win.

WINNER: Knight 13:00.

-Jackie Redmond interviewed The Street Profits backstage about their shot at the tag team titles. They did their usual schtick and ended with “We want the smoke!”

-They showed Logan watching Theory and Breakker warm up backstage. [c]

-Redmond asked Bayley for a comment about Lyra did to her earlier. Bayley was icing her neck and said she had no comment.

-Raquel was lamenting her loss to Roxanne Perez. Dom and JD walked up to them. JD tried introducing himself. Liv then walked in and was worked up and insisted she is the going to be Queen. Raquel said there’s more going on than just her goals. Liv told Raquel to go after Sol Ruca and take her IC Title. Liv then said they need to take JD to be medically evaluated.

-They went to Cole and Graves who threw to an interview Graves conducted with Seth Rollins earlier in the day. Graves asked if he feels he has taken steps to wiping out The Vision. He credited The Street Profits and now he’s one win away from putting The Vision behind him. Graves said he’s stepping into a cage against Breakker, and he might not walk out of the cage at all. Seth said he knows there are risks and a lot can go wrong. He said he has a problem and he’s been an expert at figuring out a way around that problem. He said the match with Breakker will show the world who he is. He said if he can beat Breakker and put The Vision behind him, he can then go back after the title he said he never lost. [c]

-Backstage, Gable pitched to Pearce that he face Penta. Dom walked up and told him he shouldn’t face Penta before him. Dom said he doesn’t deserve anything as he couldn’t even get forgiveness “from your loser friends.” Gamble said Dom is the one who sent him to Mexico in the first place and he’s a dumbass. Gable suggested a match against Dom. Dom volunteered JD. JD was confused and thought Pearce was a doctor. Pearce sent him to medical.

-Cole hyped Night of Champions.

[HOUR THREE]

(4) BRON BREAKKER & AUSTIN THEORY (w/Logan Paul) vs. THE STREET PROFITS – WWE Tag Team Title match

The Profits made their entrance first. Then Theory & Breakker came out with Logan. The bell rang 5 minutes into the hour. Graves touted Theory as “the glue” that held The Vision together during a sting of injuries. He did mention Paul Heyman here. They cut to a break at 2:00 after Breakker took Ford down with a running clothesline, and then backdropped Dawkins. [c]

Theory grounded Ford after the break. Eventually the Profits took over. Ford landed a top rope blockbuster on Theory. When he made the cover, Logan draped his boot over the bottom rope. The ref stopped his count, but also scolded Logan and ordered him to go to the back. Cole said they now would have an even playing field.

Ford leaped and tagged in Dawkins. Dawkins lifted Theory onto his shoulders. Breakker broke it up. Theory tagged in Breakker. Breakker leaped off the ring apron with a flying clothesline. He stood on the announce desk as they cut to another break. [c]

Breakker controlled Dawkins after the break. Breakker threw the base of the ringside steps into the ring. Logan snuck to ringside with brass knuckles. Joe Hendry then arrived and chased Logan away. Fans sang, “I believe in Joe Hendry.” Seth’s music then played. Breakker looked toward the stage for Seth, but Seth leaped over the ringside barricade and took Logan’s brass knuckles that he left on the ring apron and hit Theory. Dawkins then powerbombed Theory and then Ford landed a Five-Star Frog Splash for the win.

WINNERS: The Street Profits in 20:00 to capture the WWE Tag Team Titles.
